The PLA – Português Língua de Acolhimento course designed to help migrants, refugees, and newcomers learn Portuguese and integrate confidently into Portuguese society and community life.

At EDPRO, #1 promoter of this programme, is here to support your integration and success in Portugal with reputable training entities/ Qualifica Centres, which are authorized and recognised for the training and certification of this courses. Created under Ordinance No. 183/2020, of August 5 (amended by Ordinance No. 184/2022, of July 21), they aim to address the Portuguese language learning needs of migrants in Portugal.
Course Requirements
The PLA course is regulated by the relevant authority in Portugal and offered to those who comply with the following requirements:
Citizens aged 16 or over whose mother tongue is not Portuguese regardless of their regular situation in the country. Also aimed at citizens who hold short-term visas for seasonal work, temporary stay or residence.
Recipients must be in possession of the following documents:
Residence permit, in accordance with the national legislation applicable to foreign nationals.
NIF Número de Identificação Fiscal.
If the person does not have residence permit, they must present the following documents:
Proof that the procedure for extending the stay in national territory or for granting or renewing a residence permit has been initiated. (comprovativo from SEF/ AIMA) or Proof of submission of an application for international protection or temporary protection.
NIF Número de Identificação Fiscal or Proof of the Social Security Identification Number (NISS).

Attending the Português Língua de Acolhimento (PLA) course online offers flexibility and accessibility without compromising the quality of learning. PLA courses are immersive and fast-paced, structured in alignment with the Competency and Training Frameworks outlined in the National Qualifications Catalogue (Catálogo Nacional de Qualificações – CNQ) in Portugal.

Total Hours: 150h
Levels Offered: A1+ A2 (Minimum requirement _Applicable for Portuguese Nationality)
Levels Offered: B1+ B2 (175 Hours)
Delivery Format: Online or In-Campus
Intensive: 8–9 weeks
Less Intensive: 13-15 weeks
Morning: 09:00 – 13:00
Afternoon: 14:00 – 18:00

As classes are immersive, the student will be evaluated daily upon their participation and performance in class. Upon completing the course sucessfully, the student will obtain a Portuguese Language Proficiency certification issued by our parters training entities within 3-4 weeks. Please note that this timeframe may vary slightly due to national holidays and potential closures of the certifying entities.
